Grammys 2020: Some fans upset about Usher’s Prince tribute

The Grammy Awards’ tribute to Prince Sunday night left fans with mixed feelings.

Almost four years after Prince’s death from an accidental overdose in April 2016, the Recording Academy honored his legacy on music’s biggest night with Usher belting out a medley of the artist’s biggest songs.

While Usher sang along to Prince’s greatest hits, including “Kiss” and “When Doves Cry,” veteran musician Sheila E. Accompanied him on drums and Grammy-nominated singer FKA twigs performed on a pole and danced onstage.

After the performance, fans were split. While some praised Usher’s vocals and FKA twigs’ dance moves, others criticized the performance, upset that Usher was chosen to perform and complaining that FKA twigs was reduced to a side act.

“Usher has slayed the Janet MTV ICON honor, that MJ special, and now this Prince tribute. He gets nothing but my respect,” @trapcry tweeted.
